Investigations

— If an investigation requires witness statements, it may be useful or desirable to: — Secure affidavits — Conduct a fact-finding hearing, where witnesses are placed under oath

Evidentiary Hearing — An evidentiary hearing is NOT an adjudication. — It is an investigatory tool – in that may be used to determine whether additional steps are warranted given the availability of competent evidence. — In criminal law, examples of evidentiary hearings include: — Preliminary Hearing — Grand Jury
