If an investigation requires witness statements, it may be useful or desirable to: Secure affidavits Conduct a fact-finding hearing, where witnesses are placed under oath
Evidentiary Hearing An evidentiary hearing is NOT an adjudication. It is an investigatory tool – in that may be used to determine whether additional steps are warranted given the availability of competent evidence. In criminal law, examples of evidentiary hearings include: Preliminary Hearing Grand Jury
