and often know which chef plated it – if there is a clear identity and personality to it. It should show the great amount of love and care that’s gone into it – and this should carry through from the food, to the restaurant, the service and beyond. Every great restaurant, like every great artist, will have its own distinct style – the goal is to stand out, and have people see something you’ve created and recognise it for being you.

The team at Castle Fine Art in Liverpool were great. The whole process of selecting pieces for the restaurant felt really collaborative. They quickly got in tune with our vision, and gave really good guidance, making some fantastic recommendations. It was so helpful to have options presented to us, it gave me a clearer idea in my own head of what I liked and what I didn’t think was right for Moor Hall. I honestly can’t name my favourite from the pieces we have on display at Moor Hall; each of them is there in its own right because I loved every single one. Ultimately, it comes down to identity and personality. People who know far more about art than I do will no doubt be able to look at a painting or sculpture, and be able to determine which artist created it. Likewise, I can look at a plate of food,
