Cox Group Supplier Evaluation Pack

TEEP Assessment

Doc Ref: IM 28

To create the current feedstock that enables maximum extraction through its processes The Cox Group have developed a collection methodology for the collection of residual waste and separated, and co-mingled collections as follows:

Assessment Step 1 (Core Data)

The Cox Group consider the waste collections covered and the current waste collection system.

The current waste collection system: • Cardboard & paper • Dry mixed recyclables • Glass • Food • Residual waste

Resources

The resources used for the collection of all materials is managed across daily routes.

Assessment Step 2 (Collection methodology)

The Cox Group consider how each waste stream is managed and what waste is recycled. • Cardboard & paper collected as a separate waste stream and is recycled. • Dry mixed recyclables (DMR) in its current mix is collected and recycled except for any contaminants. • Glass is collected as a separate waste stream and is recycled. • Food is collected as a separate waste stream and recovered via Anaerobic Digestion (AD) • Residual waste is currently processed and recovered via EfW and RDF fuel processes.

Assessment Step 3 (Waste Hierarchy)

This step relates to the waste hierarchy, which has been applied throughout the decision- making process regarding the selection of recycling methodology. The Cox Group apply the waste hierarchy to all materials collected and processed and our collection and processing reflects an optimisation of the streams collected.

Assessment Step 4 (Cox Group Approach)

At this stage, questions are asked in relation of the 6 dry streams of cardboard & paper, plastic, metal, glass, food and garden waste.
