Letter from the Executive Director
Dear Friends and Colleagues, USGBC NJ recently held our 11th Annual Gala Awards, and the event was electric with the excitement of the transformation taking place across New Jersey. I would like to share with you some information on the increasing momentum in Green Building in New Jersey. New Jersey currently boasts 1034 Registered LEED Projects and 324 LEED Certified projects. This means that NJ has more than 117 million square feet of LEED registered and certified green building space; equivalent to the square footage of over 42 Empire State Buildings. There are 317 organizations with headquarters in New Jersey that are members of USGBC. These organizations, along with many other member organiza- tions operating in the state, represent the diverse segments of New Jersey’s green building industry. These organizations employ more than 312,000 people and gross more than $151 billion in annual revenue. There are also 3,992 LEED credentialed professionals in New Jersey, and the number is growing fast. These are individuals in various fields who hold this credential to allow them to compete and perform more effectively in the green building market. Currently, there are 107 LEED registered and certified K-12 and Higher Education projects in New Jersey.
