of the car with two other fellows. A 16-year-old boy began singing a hymn off key. “ If you can’t sing it right, don’t sing it,” George said. “But I gotta sing about the Lord. I accepted Him as my Saviour last night.” George shut up and started think­ ing. Somehow the sincerity of his friend touched his heart and, seated there in the back seat of the car as they drove along in the night, George gave his heart to the Lord. After that each event in Santa’s life was preparation for his Chris­ tian service. Moody Bible Institute grounded him in the Bible. Teach­ ing youth in the Midwest Bible Church of Chicago with Torrey Johnson as pastor showed Santa the needs of youth. Writing scripts for WMBI radio station and Moody Institute of Science gave him prac­ tical writing experience, how to interest and how to emphasize the spiritual message. And all along he worked with youth, seeing the need to present the gospel in small but interesting portions at youth meetings. He collected a lot of ideas. Some new. Some not too new. Some old but workable. And with his own God-given and God-prepared flare, he put them together, offering the meeting packets through Christian Workers’ Service Bureau. Meetings for youth aren’t and can’t be one man’s project. Lester C. Siegfried is editorial director of CWSB. His experience with youth work follows the same pattern as Santa’s. He could find satisfactory Sunday school lessons but when it came to youth meetings he had to write his own. At Joy Cottage, Chicago, a children’s mission, he wrote his own programs. And plenty of them. The children met three times daily in the missions: for devotions before school, for a different type of class each after­ noon after school and special meet­ ings every evening and Sunday afternoon. Siegfried had to have ideas and plenty of them. He tried every kind of an idea he could find. Those that didn’t hold interest, he dis­ carded. Those that did, he accumu­ lated until his file was full and run­ ning over. He brought these ideas and experience with him to the
