Located in south central Nebraska, Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska, is a nonprofit, fully accredited, 116-bed regional referral center serving west Nebraska, northern Kansas and northern Colorado. The Great Plains Health primary and secondary service area spans a region approximately the size of Pennsylvania, covering 38 counties, 67,882 square miles and 136,000 lives. With nearly 100 physicians representing over 30 medical specialties, the Great Plains Health system offers advanced medical services, including heart and vascular, cancer, orthopedic services, women’s services and a level III trauma center. The range of patient populations served includes neonate, pediatric, adult, obstetric and geriatric. The system employs approximately 1,200 employees who serve the community with an average of 25,000 volunteer hours each year. Great Plains Health has an estimated economic impact of $108 million on the region.
