Product Overview | High Pressure Gas Regulator
SELECTION When selecting a regulator, specify its complete designation including: pipe size code, outlet pressure range, and indicate if a slam-shut device is required. 7334 Regulators reduce high gas supply pressures to practical use levels. These regulators have internal pressure registration but can also use external pressure sensing when precise pressure control is needed. SPECIFICATIONS Body Sizes and End Connections: 1", 1 ½ ", 1 ½ " high capacity, 2" NPT STD and flanged options available Capacities: See Table D Maximum Operating Inlet Pressure: 145 psi for -1 to -6 control springs 181 psi for -7 to -18 control springs Maximum Emergency Pressure: 290 psi Temperature Capabilities: -4° to 140°F (-20° to 60°C) Pressure Sensing: Internal pulse line, if the velocity leaving is >65 ft/s, 3⁄8 " external impulse line must be added. Slam-shut Sensing: External ( ¼ " NPT connection, external sensing line required) Gas Types: Natural gas, town gas, LPG (gaseous) of families 1, 2, 3 (EN437) Designed and manufactured on the basis of norm EN 334, in compliance with PED Directive 2014/68/EU.

If the specific gravity of the gas is other than 0.6, divide desired flow by gravity factor to get equivalent flow of natural gas; then select regulator from Table D. Multiply a given size regulator's natural gas capacity by gravity factor to get regulator capacity with different gas. INSTALLATION The North American 7334 regulator may be installed in any orientation as long as the flow through it matches the direction arrow cast on the body. 7334 can be installed in horizontal or vertical pipeline. The diaphragm must be above the body in horizontal piping installations. See installation section on page 9 for more details about velocity of gas through the regulator and other recommendations for long service life. OVERPRESSURE PROTECTION Each regulator can be equipped with a slam-shut overpressure protection. There are 3 series of springs: L, M, and H. See Tables B and C. The slam-shut spring must be the same series as the control spring.
Note, the control spring can be changed only with another spring of the same series.
Example: Select a regulator for 20,000 scfh of 0.6 specific gravity natural gas from 25 psig supply pressure to 2 psig outlet pressure. A slam-shut device is not required for this example. Solution: Entering Table B, the required spring range is the -7, 48 to 64"w.c. spring. Using Table D, the -3A, higher capacity body is needed to reach the required capacity.
