AIR COOLED ADAPTER

Air Connection

Cooling Air Orientation

It may be beneficial in high temperature applications to install a 8790-0 observation port with a 8834-R cooling or purge air adapter. This provides a means of adding cooling air or purge air between the observation port and the ¾“ NPT mounting port on most North American burners. See Bulletin 8832 for Series R Adapter installation instructions. The larger 8833-R adapter has 1" NPT(M) thread on both ends for larger mounting connections. It does not come with the pipe coupling. Both size adapters have a replaceable clear optical grade ground and polished fused quartz lens. The adapters are shipped with a set screw in the vent air hole, which must be removed if used in the cooling air orientation.

8838-E OBSERVATION PORT WITH UV CELL The 8838-E is an unique observation port that integrates a UV cell into a “Y” shaped body assembly. This arrangement is ideal for burners that have only one flame observation port. A 8790-0 observation port is mounted in the upper leg of body, while the angled lower leg holds a Honeywell C7035A UV detector. A quartz sealing lens is included which prevents fuel leaking into the UV cell if mounted to a fuel port. The lens is rated for up to 10 psig backpressure. Since no burner modification is involved, a 8838-E can be added to many existing burners. See sheet 8832 for additional information, and ordering instructions.
