Day 1: Arrive Tokyo On arrival at Narita Airport, you will be met by your driver who will transfer you to your hotel (60 – 90 minutes). The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Park Hotel (3 nights) Day 2: Tokyo You will have a day at leisure. The following optional tours are available at an additional cost. Option 1: Half-day Tokyo Garden and Fire Ceremony Tour Enjoy a guided stroll in the beautiful Kiyosumi Teien gardens. These gardens date back to 1721 when the area was a villa for a feudal lord. Visit Fukagawa Fudo-do Temple, this is a very solemn and unique experience, the highlight is the spectacular Goma-kito ceremony. Tour lasts 4 hours. Option 2: Tokyo Wagyu or Sushi Cooking Lesson Japanese cuisine has such high reputation that it was declared a UNESCO Intangible World Heritage. Try your hand at making some of the dishes that led this cuisine to international fame. Choose your favourite class based on your interests and time needs. Morning option wagyu kaiseki; afternoon option sushi cooking Take a day trip to Kamakura (1hr), the former de facto capital of Japan as the seat of the Shogunate during the Kamakura Period (1185 – 1333). At that time Kamakura was the largest city in the world, however the Kamakura of today is a small, sleepy seaside town with numerous temples, shrines and other attractions. With your local guide, you will visit Kotokuin Temple, Hasedera Temple and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, ending your day shopping for local souvenirs and delicacies in Komachi Street before returning to Tokyo. (B) Day 4: Tokyo - Hakone & Mt. Fuji Leave Tokyo behind as you make the 90-minute journey to Hakone, the gateway to Mt Fuji and the surrounding national park. Your local guide for the day will accompany you on the “Romance Car” express train from Tokyo’s Shinjuku station. To explore the National Park you can take advantage of the numerous forms of transport on offer. Ride the world’s second longest cable car up Mt Owakudani, passing over sulfurous fumes, hot springs and hot rivers in this volcanic area. A majestic replica pirate ship will sweep you across the Lake Ashinoko, followed by a ride on the Hakone Tozan “switchback train”as it zig-zags through the mountains. Your guide will drop you off at lesson – both take 3 hours. (B) Day 3: Tokyo & Kamakura

your ryokan in the early evening. Enjoy a traditional Kaiseki dinner made with local ingredients and sleep on a futon mattress laid out on woven tatami straw mat flooring. (BD) Hakone Pax Yoshino or similar Day 5: Hakone – Tokyo Make your way to Odawara station for your train ride back to Tokyo. Your day will be free until your tour that evening that will introduce you to some of the local speciality dishes. Japanese cuisine is not only the refined sushi and tempura, but it has a wide range of equally delicious, more casual dishes that the locals love. Discover delicacies such as yakitori and monjayaki with a local guide. At the end of the dinner, your guide can drop you off at an izakaya (Japanese pub) in central Tokyo or take you back to your hotel. (BD) Park Hotel (2 nights) Day 6: Tokyo & Nikko National Park You will have an early start as you travel to the Nikko National Park (2hr) in the neighboring Tochigi prefecture with a local guide to visit the Toshogu Shrine complex. Built as a mausoleum for Tokugawa Ieyasu, founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate which ruled Japan for over 250 years, this lavishly decorated shrine complex consists of more than a dozen Shinto and Buddhist buildings in a beautiful forest setting and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will also visit Tamozawa Imperial Villa, a National Cultural Treasure, featuring architecture that spans 3 different periods –
