This class is accessible for beginners and still challenging for continuing and intermediate throwers. INTERMEDIATE CERAMICS: ON AND OFF THE WHEEL - LOOKING TO SUMMER Join us for an exciting clay class where we will use spring as inspiration to create pottery for your home and garden. We will combine wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques designed specifically for continuing throwers, using spring to inspire patterns, shapes, textures, and surface ideas. The wheel will be a jumping-off point for handbuilt elements, alteration techniques, and multiple parts to add depth and complexity to your work. This class is for those who have taken at least one throwing class before and are familiar with basic techniques such as wedging, centering, and pulling walls for cylinders. HANDBUILDING: BEGINNING TO INTERMEDIATE Mini-Class
This class is ideal for beginners, but appropriate for those looking for a refresher to improve their techniques. Pinch pots, coil building, working with soft slabs and stiff slabs will be covered in the class. Surface enhancements with texture and color will also be covered. One bag of clay and 8 weeks of open studio time is included. No class 4/20. Explore the upright form. Thorly will demonstrate planning and building techniques as well as how she paints the eyes and finishes the surface with using sgraffito. In this four-week master class, you’ll come away with a finished animal sculpture and some fun techniques to add to your toolkit. If time permits, we’ll consider having our animals stand on a surfboard or something more whimsical that makes you smile. One bag of clay and 4 weeks of open studio is included in this master class.
