JUNE 18 Absolutely Trustworthy

If we always would remember That He means just what He says. — A . B. S impson .

"Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever” (Psa. 119:160). There are some who believe the Bible, And some who believe in part; Some who trust with a reservation, And some with all their heart. But I know that its every promise Is firm and true always; It is tried as the precious silver, And it means just what it says.

"For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body” (Jas. 3:2). When Isaiah saw the glory of the Lord in the temple, he bowed before God and cried, “Woe is me! for I am undone; be cause I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, Je hovah of hosts” (Isa. 6:5, R. V .). Why was it that Isaiah cried out about his lips? Was he in the habit of using profanity? Did he tell rancid jokes? Did he soil his lips with dirty stories? Evidently it was not that; his lips were but a symptom of his life. Very often God calls attention to one thing in a life in order that He may cleanse the life, and when one is willing to deal with this one thing which God points out, then He is able to cleanse all parts of the life.—From God’s Fellow-Workers by L. L. L egters . "Peace I leave with you, my I peace l give unto you: not as the world giveth, give 1 unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). Not as the vain world giveth Give I, My friends, to you; With hand which deals scant measure, And face not wholly true: Its gifts, at best uncertain, As dreams that come and go, JUNE 20 His G ift

It is strange we trust each other, And only doubt our Lord; We will take the word of mortals, And yet distrust His Word. But, oh, what light and glory Would shine o’er all our days,

Along the OLD BACK ROAD Would you dream that, over beyond the end of the main highway, lies one o f the greatest romances of modern missions? More than twelve million school children in America to-day are without religious privileges! Over ten thousand abandoned churches dot our countrysides! Yet along this Old Back Road live . thousands of warm-hearted families. And in the neglected shacks are those priceless gems o f youth who, when polished, may easily become the Lin colns, the Torreys, the Sankeys and the Moodys o f tomorrow.

Ever since 18 17 , the American Sunday School Union has worked with Christ along the Old Back Road. Its task has been to seek and find the other wise unreached youth in country areas. Evangel ical in purpose, and non-sectarian in method, it has ever been true to the Word o f God. It supports 159 full-time paid Missionaries work ing under careful supervision in all sections o f the United States. It maintains 3,500 Sunday Schools, with over 150,000 Teachers and Scholars, and ministering to thousands o f needy families. Daily Vacation Bible Schools, Week-Day Bible Schools, Evangelistic Meetings, and Young People’s Sum mer Bible Conferences are developing real Chris tian leadership among these neglected people. During 1936 there were 6,846 reported decisions for Christ, and many life consecrations for Foreign Missionary service. Jesus said: “ Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in.” Will your prayers and gifts go, “ With Christ, along the Old Back Road?”

And pall upon the spirit In all their hollow show. But peace I give, and giving, My friends, I frame you strong, For all the weary struggle Of right against the wrong: With My own peace, in pureness, I bless you and endow, And what should disconcert you, Or ill-affect you now?

YOU ARE PRIVILEGED to Sponsor this marvellous work. Here is what conse crated dollars will do. $1,200, $600, $300 yearly fully or partially supports an A.S.S.U. Missionary. $10 0 yearly maintains the work in any given county. $50 yearly maintains work in an unreached community. $25 yearly maintains work in a Rural Sunday School. $12.50 yearly maintains the work of one class. There is no greater oppor tunity for Christian service. A splendid way to use the Lord’s money.

JUNE 21 Super-Victors

"Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Rom. 8:37). “We are more than conquerors” is one word, a verb, in the Greek. It might be translated, “We are super-victors,” or “We become hyper-victorious.” Is it not stimu lating to realize that we may pass through the difficulties of life not as more-dead- than-alive victors, but as supervictors? If we can maintain this hyper-victorious atti tude in our daily living, we shall not only be freed from fear and filled with joy and peace ourselves, but also be helpers of others’ faith and courage. — G eorge H. S eville .
