Dr. Bauman’ s Itinerary Louis S. Bauman, pastor of the First Brethren Church of Long Beach, Calif., and a writer of frequent articles in T he K ing ’ s B usiness , left late in March for two months of Bible teaching in churches in the Middle West and in the East. Frequently we hear people use pious lan guage that does not have the ring of sin cerity. Sometimes unsaved people with Christian training or because of association with Christians adopt the language of “ Canaan” and speak in the terms that prop erly belong only to the Lord’s people. At times this imitating is done unconsciously, and at other times it is done to deceive. However, even those who seem to be Christians sometimes use language that is insincere. They make decisions in self-will and then claim that God led them to their decisions. Sometimes these people are self- deceived, but in other cases there is a de liberate attempt to cover up self-will by pious phraseology. We often need to ex amine our hearts to see whether our lan guage really reflects the attitude of- our hearts. Our Lord has a very solemn word on this matter: “ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 7:21).
