2024 ANNUAL APPEAL
Dear Friends and Family of Capital Harmony Works, We are thrilled to share the inspiring stories of three remarkable young choristers and musicians who have found their passion, voices, and community through our programs: Hans, Alana, and Maniya. Each of them has a unique journey that highlights the profound impact of music on young lives and underscores the vital need for support.
Hans began his musical journey with us in 2021 at the age of 14, when he joined the Trenton Music Makers Orchestra to study cello. From the start, he showed remarkable talent and an unwavering commitment to his instrument, quickly becoming a leader in the orchestra and a role model for his peers. In the summers of 2023 and 2024, Hans earned prestigious opportunities to study with the Dali String Quartet in Philadelphia and to train under renowned cellist German Marcano at the New England Music Camp. Now 17 and a high school senior, Hans has taken on a new role as an Intern Cello Teaching Artist with Capital Harmony Works, where he teaches private lessons, leads small groups, and conducts ensembles. He’s working hard to prepare for college applications and summer festivals as he pursues his dream of a career in music.

While Hans crafts his string work, two other bright personalities and talents, twin sisters Alana and Maniya have blossomed through our Trenton Children’s Chorus program. Alana and Maniya started with us three years ago, shy and hesitant on their first day. Today, they are strong, enthusiastic members of the choir, inspiring everyone with their love for learning songs in new languages and singing with their friends. For Alana and Maniya, this program has provided more than music lessons—it’s given them a supportive community and a place where they belong. They are also deeply grateful for the meals provided to those who may be hungry, as it allows them to focus on their music and friendships without worry.
Alana and Maniya, choiristers
Together, Hans, Alana, and Maniya represent the life-changing impact of our programs, which give students not only musical skills but also confidence, friendship, and a safe space to grow. As these talented young people prepare to reach new heights, we’re asking for your support to help sustain and expand not only the choral and orchestra aspects of Capital Harmony Works, but also our Music for the Very Young preschool program and Learning Academy which offers academic support to our musicians. Your donation will go directly toward: Covering tuition and fees for private lessons, audition expenses, and competition entries for students like Hans. Providing meals and resources to ensure that students like Alana and Maniya can focus on learning and growing. Supporting teaching artists, supplies, and materials to keep our programs accessible to every student, regardless of their financial situation. Increasing the participation and presence of the Music for the Very Young program in Trenton area preschools. Securing materials and academic tools needed to continue the tutoring services for our young musicians through the Learning Academy. Your gift could be the catalyst that helps Hans, Alana, and Maniya achieve their dreams. Your generosity will create new opportunities for them and the hundreds of other children in our programs, giving them a foundation that can last a lifetime. Please consider making a donation to support our young musicians. With your help, we can continue to foster a nurturing environment where they can thrive and inspire others. Thank you for being part of our musical family and for your commitment to young talent.
