WEST FORK RANCH
Before West Fork Ranch started in the purebred Charolais and Red Angus breeds, we had a commercial herd. Because we also farmed and raised our own corn, my Dad (Hank) saw the value in feeding our own cattle. Therefore, any animal who doesn’t get placed into our replacement heifer program or kept or sold as a bull, goes into our feedyard. My Dad loved to feed cattle. and apparently his grandson Jarod has inherited that trait. When Jarod was 15, he came home from school one day and said to me, “You need to teach me how to run the feed truck so I can do the feeding”. And he’s been doing it ever since. The last several years we have been selling everything on the grid. And we beat it every time! The steers and heifers have consistently gone 97 to 98% Choice and Prime! These cattle are purebred Charolais, purebred Red Angus, gold, smokes and some blacks. Numbers don't lie. Look at the harvest data shown below.
