THE K I NG ' S BUS I NES S There was no carpet on the floor, only a small rug beside the bed._ The mother took in sewing in order to buy clothes and food for herself and children, for the father and husband was dead. One day a little neighbor boy got acquainted with the little boy who lived in this poor home, and when he went home he told his mother about the -little poor boy, and how he did not have any toys, and what do you think he did? He asked his mother if he could give some of his things to the little boy, and his mother said they were his and if he was willing to share with the little boy, she would be glad to have him do so. Then his mother said she would buy and dress a doll for the little sister of the boy, and she went over with the boy when he took over some of his play things to the little poor boy. The little boy and girl were so happy to receive the lovely presents, for they did not have any toys, for th emother could just earn enough money sewing to buy food and clothes and pay the rent. Our story today is about making others happy, and we see how this little boy and his mother made the poor little boy and girl and their mother happy, by sharing some of their joys with them. Prayer. Lesson Story.—Our story is about a lady who lived a long time ago, in the land where Jesus lived when He was down here on earth. There were many poor people in those days, just as there are today, who needed help. The lady in our story was named Dorcas, and she knew how to sew well and make clothes for people to wear. As she visited around among her neighbors, whenever she found any boys and girls, or grown up folks who were poor and needed clothes, she made little dresses and coats for the children, and also for the big folks she made clothes. She made many people happy in the little town of Joppa where she lived, for she felt very sorry for the poor widows who did

not have any good warm clothes to wear. How do you think these people felt when she gave them their new coats and dresses to wear? Yes, indeed they were happy and of course they loved Dorcas who was so kind to them. Every one in the town, who knew Dorcas loved her, for j3he went about among them making them happy. Boys and girls, do you know th a t is ju st what Jesus did when He was down here on earth? He went about doing good, and that is making people happy. People who love Jesus are called Christians, and if we are really Christians, we will always try to make others happy. We cannot all sew and make clothes like Dorcas, but there are many other things we can do. We can bring happiness to mother and others by being happy ourselves, and if we love Jesus and do the things He wishes us to do, we will be happy. We cannot make others happy if we pout and are cross, and do not want to do all we can to help mother and those we meet from day to day. Let us learn our memory verse, for it tells us how to be happy, and how to make others happy. “Trust in the Lord, and do good.” That means we will believe in Jesus, and of course if we believe in Him, we will do good, and if we do good, we will be happy ourselves, and if we are happy we ju st cannot help making others happy. Boys and girls, let us see how many people we can make happy this next week. One day Dorcas was taken very sick and died. When the people heard the sad news they felt very sorry, and showed Peter all the things which she had made for them, and the people cried, because Dorcas had been so kind and good to them. Peter, you know, was one of the disciples, and when he went into the room where Dor cas was, she was cold and still, for there was no life in her body. Peter kneeled down and prayed to God, and then called Dorcas by name and told her 'to arise. Then something happened.
