THE K I N G 1 S BUS I NES S would you have to, pay for the glass of water? Not anything. God has given us the lovely, pure yrater free. But think how much it is worth, for it keeps us alive, and we could not possibly live long without it. Now we will draw an other kind of glass on the board right along side of the water glass. This small glass is such as is often used for wine. Is wine free like water, or does it cost money? Yes, the wine costs money, and the water is free. Which is worth more? The water which God made, and gives us, for it is the best drink in the world. And the wine is one of the worst things. We cannot count how much the wine costs, for it injures the health of those who drink it, and brings untold misery and suffer ing to the children and mothers in the homes. Let us never touch it. Prayer. Lesson Story.—We can choose what things, we will do and what we will not do. Today we are to hear about a boy who made a wise choice for himself and his three friends. The boy’s name was Daniel, and he was brought up by Christian parents, and you know boys and girls and men and women who are Christians, which means they love Jesus, will take good care of these bodies which God has given to us. They will never do anything that will harm them, and of course they would never drink 'wine or any liquor, which has alcohol in it, for alcohol makes the body sick, and hurts the brain so it cannot think right. They would never smoke or use tobacco in any way. When Daniel was just a boy, he and many of his people were carried away into a country far from his home. The king of the new country wanted some ser vants for his palace from among these people, so he asked one of his chief men to choose from among these cap tives, the brightest and best looking young men, who could be tau g h t' and trained in the palace. The king ordered that these young men be fed with food
364 thousand miles a year, and the brain guides it through all the complicated journey. The hand of the typist travels a hundred thousand miles a year, and every yard of the journey is a bewilder ing dance. The hand of the piano- player does marvelously more. A Presto by Mendelssohn» was played in four minutes and three seconds, a total of 5995 notes. That meant more than 24 notes a second, and each note meant a bending of a finger up and down, with many side movements of the hand, com plicated movements of wrists, elbows, shoulders and feet. A physiologist as serted th a t the performance involved a t least 72 distinct changes every sec ond, each change produced by a distinct act of the will. There were 96 trans missions of nerve force from brain to hands each second. This is the kind of instrument that people abuse with al cohol, drugs, tobacco, late hours, bad air, gluttony, tight clothes, knick-knacks and a thousand other physical insults. Taking Care of Our Bodies. Dan. 1 : 8 - 21 . Memory Verse.—“Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Cor. 10:31. Approach.-—You all .look so happy this morning, I ju st know you have been doing what our story told us about last week. Charles do you remember what th a t was? Yes, BEGINNERS making others hap- AND PRIMARY py, and we learned Mabel L. Merrill that when we make others happy, it makes us happy too. Now I am going to draw something on the board, and let us see if you know what it is? A glass. You see this is a good sized glass such as we use when we drink water. Suppose you are walking or travelling along the road, and become thirsty, and go into a house and ask for a drink of water. How much
