The “rich fool” (Luke 12:20) must have been a descendant of the Old Testament fool who said in his heart “¡There is no God” (Psa. 14:1). This rich man thought only of himself, of bigger and better barns, of coveting larger crops and of satisfying his soul .with food and drink. “What fools these mortals be!” Ab solutely dependent upon God for the sunshine and showers, for the help of the harvester, and yet absolutely ignor ing God, hugging the delusive phantom of hope th a t they can outwit God and avoid the inevitable woe of God upon their soil and souls. God pity them! (2) THE WRATH OF WEALTH, Amos 8:4-7. In the preceding portion of Scrip ture we were looking upon wealth which, although honestly gained, was secured a t a tremendous sacrifice of
