386 built. You know I think Jesus spent a great deal of His time at home, help­ ing His mother by taking care of the smaller children, or working at the car­ penter’s bench with Joseph. Mary worked hard making bread in the even­ ing and baking it in the morning, mak­ ing clothes for the children, for there were other children, all younger than Jesus. - In the morning and evening Joseph called his family together around him and prayed God to keep them all day and to take care of them at night. On Sunday they went together to the little village church. Joseph and Mary used to go every year to the big city of Jerusalem, to keep the feast of the passover. Jesus was now 12 years old, and so he went along with them up to Jerusalem. Now people who went to the passover, travelled in companies; friends and neighbors, would go to­ gether. Some of them rode on mules and horses, perhaps, but many of them walked all the way. Now after the passover feast was over, the people started on the journey back to their homes. ~ Mary and Joseph also started hack and they thought that Jesus was among those who journeyed with them, so they went on till evening; then they looked for him, but could not find him. Then they had to leave the other people and travel back alone to Jerusalem. They had been one day coming, and one day returning to the city, and so it was the third day, and where do you sup­ pose they found the boy Jesus? In the church, talking with the doctors, or wise men, listening to what they said, and asking them questions. Many boys left that long in a great city would have gotten into mischief of some kind, but the boy Jesus was busy with the teach­ ers, learning all he could. Hike the little brook he was busy. Jesus wanted to learn all he could, for he knew it was important for him to study and learn all he could while a boy, so he would grow up to be a useful man. You
