Over the month of December, Hills Bank employees took time to bring holiday joy to local families with Open Heartland’s Holiday Elves present drive! This wonderful tradition enlists individuals around Johnson County to “adopt” an immigrant family from Mexico and Central America, and shop for gifts for them (1-2 per family member). Once the gifts are purchased and wrapped, “holiday elves” drop them off at Open Heartland’s location in Iowa City to be distributed to each family – helping hundreds of neighbors have a warmer, brighter holiday. We’re happy to get the opportunity to hopefully make this family’s Christmas better! It really was a group effort from everyone.
