Conservatory Outlet Launches Exclusive Retail Sales Process in Six-Figure Investment
More events will be delivered across the UK in the coming months, with the business aiming to engage more than 200 individuals by the end of the year. “We know that great products alone don’t guarantee strong sales,” said Greg Kane, CEO at Conservatory Outlet. “Our exclusively designed sales process is all about giving our Premium Retailers the edge in a competitive field. We’re committed to equipping our customers with a deep psychological understanding of buying behaviours and the confidence to explore a customer’s needs, then introducing how our collection of products might address their requirements. “This is the first in a series of tailored training programmes that will include our other exclusive product ranges, the Extreme, Envisage and Eclipse collections.” The Forté Collection, known for its outstanding security, thermal efficiency and range of traditional and contemporary designs, has been a key part of the Conservatory Outlet portfolio since its launch in 2023. Since being brought to market, the Forté collection has been expanded on with the addition of several new door designs, on-trend colour finishes and new hardware options. The versatility and variety of the range have been a huge hit with both retailers and the public alike. with sales of the door rising by 19% year- on-year. During the training, consultants are guided through the door’s construction, performance credentials, and hardware options – before exploring proven techniques to pitch those features effectively in a customer setting. Early feedback has been very positive. “The training was fantastic,” said Jo-Ann Bowles, Sales Director at West Yorkshire Windows. “The team received a great deal of practical and actionable information. With the day being split between product knowledge and sales coaching, there’s something for everyone. “Having a great product to sell helps, which the Forté is. But having that backed up with enhanced training and tailored sales coaching is a massive benefit to both our salespeople and to us as a business. “I can’t thank Greg and the team at Conservatory Outlet enough for organising this training event, and we’re looking forward to follow-up sessions in the coming months.” With additional sessions already planned, the launch clearly demonstrates Conservatory Outlet’s commitment to prioritising customer support and sales enablement at the heart of its retail partnership model.
Conservatory Outlet has pioneered an exclusive new retail sales process for its Network of Premium Retailers, launched as part of a substantial six-figure investment into training and development. Kicking off the long-term programme with its Forté Door collection, the first in a series of national roadshow events, the sessions combine an elite consultative sales process with digital assets and comprehensive sample kits designed to offer a more immersive experience for the homeowner. Developed and delivered collaboratively by Conservatory Outlet’s in-house team alongside a renowned sales coach from the industry, the sessions combine technical product training with structured, psychology-based sales coaching. The goal is simple: to arm sales consultants with the knowledge, confidence and tools they need to position Forté doors effectively, overcome objections, and ultimately convert more customer enquiries into confirmed orders. The combination of tools and techniques really brings to life the features and benefits of its products and helps the homeowner to understand how they could enrich their home. The coaching programme, along with a range of physical samples and digital assets, is being offered free of charge to Conservatory Outlet’s customers as part of a long-term investment. This significant commitment will upskill sales professionals from across the UK and accompanies the release of new materials, tailored one-to-one sessions, and physical sample kits to support the sales process. The rollout began with a launch event for its retail partners in Yorkshire before heading over the Pennines for further sessions in Lancashire and Cumbria.

True Choice in Colour: Direct Trade (Yorkshire) Ltd and VEKA Align with Market Trends
Direct Trade, a nationwide VEKA fabricator since 2005, has further strengthened its long-standing relationship with the system house by signing a new ten-year supply agreement earlier this year. This milestone cements more than two decades of partnership and demonstrates a shared vision for delivering premium PVCu products to the fenestration market. At the heart of this collaboration lies a mutual understanding of what installers and homeowners truly need when it comes to colour choice. In a market where some suppliers push an ever- expanding palette of shades that complicate production and overwhelm customers, Direct Trade and VEKA are committed to something different: clarity, reliability, and relevance. A Fabricator’s Perspective Mark Powell, Sales Director at Direct Trade (Yorkshire) Ltd, explains: “Whilst others flood the market with endless shades and finishes that confuse customers and complicate supply, we know our customers can trust us to deliver something different. True choice isn’t about how many colours you can offer – it’s about delivering the right colours: tested, trusted, on-trend with market demands, and available when our customers need them. That’s what gives installers the confidence to sell and homeowners the assurance they’re making the right choice.” Direct Trade’s own order book reflects this point. Their two most requested foil colours today are Anthracite Grey and Agate Grey, with Rosewood and Beck Brown following closely behind. This pattern mirrors broader consumer preferences, where greys and darker tones continue to dominate the market.
VEKA Innovation: Feinstruktur Foils VEKA’s recent investment in Feinstruktur foils has been developed precisely with today’s market demands in mind. Feinstruktur introduces a finely textured surface finish that is only available through VEKA, offering a look and feel that cannot be replicated elsewhere in the industry. “This exclusivity is a powerful tool for VEKA Installers, giving them something genuinely unique to present to homeowners”, explains Mark. “In a competitive landscape where many products can appear similar at first glance, having access to finishes that are both on-trend and unavailable from rival systems suppliers creates a tangible point of difference. Homeowners are increasingly influenced by the premium aesthetics they see in aluminium products, and Feinstruktur provides a way to mirror that desirable finish in PVCu – combining contemporary design with all the benefits of durability, thermal performance, and affordability that PVCu delivers.” By offering Feinstruktur Anthracite Grey and Feinstruktur Black as stocked colour options, VEKA ensures that installers don’t just have access to an exclusive product, but that it is also readily available and supported by the reliable delivery standards the brand is known for. This means installers can respond to customer demand quickly, without the long lead times that can put projects at risk. For installers, this kind of exclusivity does more than enhance their portfolios – it strengthens their reputation as providers of cutting-edge solutions. Being able to say “this finish is only available through VEKA” elevates the conversation with homeowners, enabling installers to build trust and close sales more effectively.
8
And when paired with VEKA’s exclusive OMNIA double flush system, Feinstruktur foils unlock even greater opportunity: a system and finish combination that represents a competitive edge unmatched in the current fenestration market. Together, they put VEKA Installers in a position not just to compete, but to lead. Setting the Standard Together Amy Steven, Sales Director at VEKA, reinforces the message: “We’re proud to support long-standing partners like Direct Trade with a colour offering that is as forward- thinking as it is practical. Our aim has never been to flood the market with choice for choice’s sake, but to deliver finishes that are proven, on-trend, and backed by the reliability VEKA is known for. With the introduction of Feinstruktur foils and our exclusive
systems like OMNIA, we’re giving fabricators and installers the tools they need to stand out and succeed.” For Direct Trade and VEKA, true choice is not measured by quantity but by quality and relevance. By combining a carefully curated colour portfolio with exclusive innovations and dependable delivery, they are helping installers thrive in a demanding marketplace – and ensuring homeowners benefit from products that meet their style expectations without compromise. This approach, underpinned by a 20+ year partnership and a new ten-year supply agreement, demonstrates how collaboration between fabricator and systems supplier can deliver lasting value to the fenestration trade.

Sheerline Selected for Transformative Extension in Winterbourne, Bristol
A bungalow in the idyllic setting of Winterbourne, Bristol, has undergone a huge transformation thanks to a large extension and the installation of Sheerline’s aluminium windows and doors. As a result of the impressive transformation, the project has won Installation of the Month for July. The fabricator on the project was Master Plastics, the long-term supplier of Bristol-based installer, Maynard Windows. The companies previously won Sheerline’s
competition last year for the work they completed on an exclusive development in the Frenchay area of Bristol. As part of the Winterbourne project, Maynard Windows installed multiple products from Sheerline’s Prestige range in Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016) inside and out to achieve consistent styling throughout. This includes a Prestige Door with an aluminium panel along the bottom.
Prestige windows were installed to the side of the property. In the main living area, two large picture windows and an impressive double pane Prestige Lift & Slide Patio measuring approximately 5.8m in length were installed. This combination of products offers a minimal frame to glass ratio and was selected for its ability to provide unrestricted views of the surrounding countryside. Maynard Windows also made use of
Sheerline Bespoke’s in-house arched frame service. In the kitchen there had originally been a bi-fold door with an arch above it, however, due to the new layout, this product no longer worked. Instead, the homeowners opted to maintain the existing shape with an arched Prestige frame. Underneath it, there are two standard casement Prestige windows that push open to allow for
14
ventilation as required. As well as providing views to the fields behind the house, the arched frame is a standout design feature of the new kitchen. Matt Maynard, Director at Maynard Windows, said: “Everything was spot on, I’ve had no issues with Sheerline, I like everything about it – it’s the best system on the market without a doubt. But more importantly, the customers are happy, and the house looks lovely.” Martin Hepburn, Sheerline’s Area Sales Director - South West, commented: “Well done to Master Plastics and
Maynard Windows – what a stunning installation! This project shows precisely what can be achieved with the Prestige range and how easy it is to create a consistent aesthetic throughout the home with Sheerline.” To speak to Master Plastics directly, contact the team on 0117 971 4433 or visit the website: www.masterplastics.co.uk. Hermetic Door Systems: Key Benefits and Where They Matter Most
efficiency by minimising air exchange between rooms with differing temperatures or humidity levels. In climate-controlled environments such as cold storage units or laboratories, hermetic doors help maintain stable conditions, reducing the load on HVAC systems. Improved Sound Insulation: Hermetic sealing significantly reduces sound transmission, making them ideal for areas where noise isolation is important. This feature is especially useful in medical imaging rooms (like MRI suites), broadcasting studios, and testing labs. Enhanced Fire and Smoke Containment: Many hermetic door systems are designed to be fire-rated, providing an additional layer of protection in the event of a fire. Their ability to contain smoke and flames can help buy time for evacuation and limit damage. Automatic Operation and Hygiene: Most hermetic
What are hermetic door systems? Hermetic door systems, also known as airtight or sealed doors, are precision-engineered to provide an airtight seal when closed. Unlike traditional doors, which may allow the passage of air, dust, and contaminants, hermetic doors are designed to block all external elements from entering or exiting a controlled space. These systems are commonly used in industries and environments where hygiene, safety, or environmental control are critical. Key Benefits of Hermetic Door Systems Superior Contamination Control: Hermetic doors are essential in maintaining sterile environments. Their airtight seal helps prevent the ingress of dust, pathogens, and airborne particles. This is particularly vital in cleanrooms, hospitals, and pharmaceutical labs where contamination could compromise safety or product integrity. Energy Efficiency: These doors improve energy
door systems are automatic and touch-free, reducing the risk of germ transmission - an increasingly important feature in healthcare and food processing sectors. The smooth, seamless surfaces also make cleaning easy and effective. Where Hermetic Doors Are Most Needed Hermetic door systems are not just a technical upgrade - they are a necessity in the following sectors: • Healthcare Facilities: Isolation rooms, ICUs, operating theatres, and imaging departments benefit from infection control and pressure management. • Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Labs: Cleanrooms, production lines, and containment zones require strict control over airborne particles and contamination. • Food and Beverage Industry: Areas such as packaging, refrigerated storage, and processing units benefit from hygienic, climate-controlled separation. • Electronics and Semiconductor Manufacturing: In dust-sensitive environments, hermetic doors help maintain ultra-clean standards and prevent electrostatic interference. • Cold Storage and Logistics: Warehouses and cold rooms rely on efficient sealing to preserve temperaturesensitive goods and reduce energy loss.
GEZE MCRdrive: Precision in Motion GEZE MCRdrive is a modular sliding door system for areas of buildings where hermetic air tightness is required. What makes it special: GEZE MCRdrive offers a standard-compliant and certified overall system and fulfils the requirements of building projects with modern and appealing design concepts. Kömmerling named PVC Systems Company of the Year finalist in NFAs
Kömmerling is delighted to announce its finalist position in the 2025 National Fenestration Awards, in the PVC Systems Company of the Year category. Robert Thiroff, managing director of Kömmerling explains why being named a finalist in this category is so important to the company: “We have talked a lot this year about the fact we are diversifying on behalf of our customers by offering aluminium, WarmCore and Building Products, but our heritage still lies in PVC-U window and door systems. Being named a finalist in this NFA category reflects our ongoing commitment to the PVC-U sector. “Being named a finalist in this NFA category is testament to our reputation for outstanding quality when it comes to PVC-U window and door systems, but also to the fact we are manufacturing sustainable products that are perfect for the end user today, and tomorrow. And we are still growing our PVC-U range of products. “Following on from the success of our flush sash window system, we have recently completed a huge programme of investment and product development to deliver a flush sash door system too. Both systems have been designed with features to keep PVC-U fabricators and installers ahead of the competition.” Robert describes what makes the new Flush Sash Door System so special: “The new Flush Sash Door System offers the same high level of energy efficiency as our Flush Sash Window System, with a double- glazed door with full steel reinforcement able to achieve a 1.2w/m2K u-value. This is particularly exciting because some of our competitors need to remove the steel from the sash or frame, or even mullion to achieve a similar result. We can achieve these impressive u-values because we utilise a pseudo chamber concept, whereby the steel reinforcement in a 5 chambered profile is shaped to achieve a simulated 6th chamber. “Another technical detail that puts our PVC-U Flush Sash Door System customers ahead of the competition is the co-extruded flipper gasket that seals onto the frame, rather than needing to be rolled in. This gasket is also set back so that it doesn’t protrude the gap between sash and frame. We have also ensured the best possible aesthetics with a sash to frame sightline of 145mm and a frame to sash gap of just 5mm.” The Flush Sash frame can be manufactured with the company’s C70 or O70 systems allowing for
chamfered or ovolo detailing on the internal view of the window or door. The system has also been designed with thicker side walls to ensure timberweld and mechanical weld prep detail is more robust, and can achieve glazing depths of 28mm, 36mm and 40mm. Robert concludes: “We hope customers and peers will vote for Kömmerling to win PVC Systems Company of the Year because we are continuing to invest to ensure we keep delivering technically better PVC-U window and door systems that stay ahead of increasingly stringent standards, today and in the future.” Voting closes on the Friday 19th September (5pm) Cast your vote here: www.fenestrationawards.co.uk/ nfa25

Martin Hepburn on the NFAs and Sheerline’s Eight Nominations
It’s been a turbulent year for the industry – is that an understatement? We’ve witnessed mergers and acquisitions, businesses collapse, and consolidation previously unseen within the aluminium sector, but familiar to those of us who remember how the PVCu market shifted from stockists to systems companies that extruded their own profile. But that’s not been the only source of turbulence. Politically, economically, globally – it’s
Of course, we’re delighted Sheerline has been nominated for eight awards. For us, the breadth of categories we’re in has really struck a chord. It shows that we understand what the industry wants and needs from us, and that we’re working hard to exceed expectations. Being recognised in the ‘Colour Specialist of the Year’ category is hugely rewarding for our production team, having our products in the spotlight is a
fantastic result for the R&D team, and the fact people are still talking about our U-Values You Can Trust campaign is fantastic. At Sheerline, we’re one team working to achieve customer satisfaction, manufacturing excellence, and strategic growth. As a reminder, we’re nominated for:
been hugely uncertain, and this has affected the industry to varying degrees. But why am I bringing this up in a piece about the National Fenestration Awards? Context is important. This year’s awards are set to the be the biggest yet, and I’ve no doubt the
number of votes cast will surpass the record-breaking figure achieved last year. And what makes the NFAs extra special is the fact they’re peer nominated and voted. Now more than ever, businesses are shouting about what they’re working on, what they’ve achieved, and of course, their team members. But it’s not simply about shouting the loudest. Awards ceremonies provide an opportunity to recognise people, products, and processes. Those in the industry that continue to invest, innovate, and develop unique solutions, even during challenging times – they are the trailblazers. The fenestration industry has always been competitive, but given the current climate, it’s important to keep banging the drum.
