GRAHAMDRIVESFIRSTRATEGYWITH KEYAPPOINTMENT

The Infrastructure Minister, Nichola Mallon, has officially approved the long-awaited redevelopment of Casement Park. Work is expected to commence in the first half of 2022 and take two years to complete, with Mott MacDonald as the M&E contractor. The Communities Minister, Deirdre Hargey, confirmed the proposed Casement Park development will cost approximately £110 million. The initial cost of the new GAA stadium was estimated at £77 million. Main contractors Heron Brothers Limited, Co. Londonderry and Buckingham Group Contracting Limited, Co. Buckinghamshire have been awarded the contract for the design and construction of the new stadium at Casement Park Stadium for UCGAA. Works will comprise the demolition and disposal of the entire facilities and the construction of the new stadium, which will incorporate changing, training, hospitality, acoustic performance capabilities, community rooms, media facilities, comfort, office and storage facilities etc. Replacement floodlighting, stadium/ event management suite, ground support facilities including new arrangements for vehicles and pedestrians, electronic display installations, storage, surface and undercroft car parking, hard and soft landscaping are also included. Construction and civil engineering specialist, GRAHAM has appointed a new Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion as part of its aim to be an industry leader for Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR). Hollie joins GRAHAM from VolkerWessels UK, where she was Head of EDI for almost four years, and brings significant experience in the civil engineering, highways and rail sectors. She is a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), with a Level 4 qualification in Managing Equality and Diversity. In addition to this, she is also a Network Rail Diversity and Inclusion champion, STEM and FIR ambassador and sits on the Board of Governors at her local primary school – a role that fits perfectly with her passion to inspire future generations, particularly girls, into the construction industry. Staff at Colinwell Masonry & Retaining Wall Products put their best feet forward to raise £2,000 for local Belfast charity PIPS Charity’s (Suicide Prevention and Bereavement Support Services). On New Year’s Day 2021, the staff embarked on a 100-day step challenge organised by millionsteps.com, a social good start-up. The aim was for each member of Colinwell staff to walk one million steps in one hundred days. Together the Colinwell team walked 5,367,677 steps or 2,683 miles, which is more than the distance between Belfast to Halifax, Canada! COLINWELL STEPS UPTOCHARITY CHALLENGE employment, learning and development and training processes here at GRAHAM.” On her appointment, Hollie said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to work with the organisation’s stakeholders to shape our EDI strategy and make a real difference for our people.”
