with the industry. I decided to join NAI DiLeo-Bram, and I’ve been there for the past 8 years. What unique qualities and or personality do you feel makes you most suc- cessful in your profession? Personally, I feel as though having a great memory and being able to recall information on the spot has been a strength of mine. Starting out in the business, I was definitely more of an introvert. However, with a lot of practice speaking with many different people on an everyday basis, and watching my father interact with clients, I have also grown much more confident in my people skills. Being a math major in col- lege has also helped with the strategic and organizational part of this business, such as preparing comprehensive market analysis reports and pro-formas for clients and prop- erty owners. Being a real estate agent is like putting pieces of a puzzle together, and I’ve re- ally enjoyed that aspect of the industry. What inspiring words of advice would you give to a

young executive graduating from college? I would tell them to not get discouraged by initial failures in the business. This industry, for one, can turn on a dime and success can be just one call or transaction away. Being a real estate agent can be very lucrative if you put in the time and honest effort. I would also encourage them to enjoy the business. When you work a territory for several years, you start to do deals with a lot of the same brokers. I remember when I first started out, it seemed as though everyone knew each other at events and open houses. Now it’s nice because I feel like I’m seeing more and more familiar faces and I have started to become friends with the other agents in the business. My dad has always told me about the 10,000-hour rule, and the importance of putting in the time and effort in order to be successful. I’m not there yet but I’m getting closer every day and that to me in the most exciting part of the business. MAREJ

I’d have to say representing the buyer in the recent sale of the former Black Thorn Restau- rant & Pub in Kenilworth, NJ. The buyer is an Italian based telehandler distributor who was looking for 1-2 acres of raw land to park their construction cranes. Being in such a tight market around the ports for truck parking, the assignment felt like finding a needle in a haystack. However, my father and I got creative by sending the client a bank-owned res- taurant property, which sat on 2 acres of land, as soon as it went up for sale. We got into a bit of a bidding war and almost lost out to anther buyer looking to do a multi-family develop- ment, but we counseled our client through the negotiations and ultimately secured the property and were able to close right at the beginning weeks of the COVID19 lockdowns. Who or what has been the strongest influence in your career? I would have to say that the Internet has been the

biggest influence in my career because of the fact that it al- lows a younger agent, like my- self, to compete against more experienced brokers by provid- ing us with a database of prop- erties and information. Before Loopnet and Costar existed, brokers had to rely on years of experience, a good memory and personal relationships to move ahead in the industry. Now with technology, agents have so muchmore information at their disposable, which ultimately puts younger agents on more of an even playing field. Tell us how and when you began your career in the profession you are in, about your current posi- tion and why you choose

the field/profession you are in today? I am currently in my 8th year as an agent at NAI DiLeo-Bram & Co., which I joined right out of college. I graduated with a degree in mathematics think- ing that I would become a high school teacher. However, since I graduated a semester early from college, I was looking to stay busy during that time. My father, who was in the industry encouraged me to get my real estate license so that I could gain some knowledge in the business world versus having a purely academic background. After going out on appoint- ments with him, and watching transactions from start to fin - ish, I quickly become intrigued
