This year the park and plaza outside of City Hall became an outdoor roller derby rink as members of several house league teams, both male and female, bumped and jammed at each other to score points while doing their laps. The afternoon also fea- tured a couple of “open season” sessions to introduce fans, both young and old, to both roller skating and roller derby. Alicia “Busterup” Gerwing is an ex-blocker and now coaches the young bloods of roller derby. She works as a legal assistant and a few of her co-workers are intrigued by her choice of recreationt for the past !ve years. On skates they are hell on wheels but outside of the rink they are doctors, lawyers, ac- countants, teachers, and some of the nic- est people you would ever want to meet.
