Calvary’s Cross. This does not obvi ate the fact that stealing is a sin and no Christian should be involved in it. First of all, if you are a believer, confess the sin to the Lord. Then, whatever is needed to make it right, requires restitution with the individ ual. This does not need to be made public before the church, unless it involves a number of others. The only way for peace of heart and mind would be to follow these steps. Q . Colfax, Calif. — “I have been told that the word LORD in capital letters means God’s true name Jehovah, and that we as Christians should use it. I can’t find any place in Scripture that says we should. In Exodus 6:8, God told Moses not to use the name Jehovah because the people did not know Him by that name. Can you give me help and understanding on this?” A. LORD in the New Testament rep resents the Hebrew letters YHWH. Adonai, which means Lord, is the word that the Hebrews used. The Jews, out of a reverence for the name of God, not wanting to say it unduly or in vain, made the substi tution. In the New Testament, the word for God is Theos, and that for Lord is Kurios. Keep in mind that there were a number of things our Lord told His disciples as well as His followers in future to do which He did not need to do Himself. Baptism is a public declaration of an individual’s inward cleansing by the Spirit of God. It shows we are manifesting His death, burial, and resurrection. The Sav iour’s main purpose in coming to earth was to give His life a ransom for sinful man. Obviously, we don’t hear Him saying what the Apostle Paul declared in Acts 16:31, “Be lieve on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” The point is that our Lord assigned certain duties and ordinances for others which were unnecessary for Himself. As another example, He told those who followed Him to repent and come to God for saking their sins. He would never fol low such activity, for He was born without sin. Q . Sacramento, Calif. — “Must 1 repay an old friend, making right my steal ing from him in order to enter heav en?” A. There is only one thing any in dividual can do in order to enter heaven and that is to accept by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Saviour. Salvation is based wholly on the finished work He wrought on
