The book was distributed free to all 3rd graders in the Wilkes-Barre schools. He also serves on the board of the Wilkes- Barre Law & Library Association's Charitable Foundation and chairman of the Westmoreland Club's Community Liaison Committee. Club member Mike McGinley was recently named 2025 campaign chair for the Wilkes-Barre Cavalcade of Jazz. The Cavalcade is a three-day music festival in Downtown Wilkes-Barre scheduled for June 6-8. The festival commences with an opening ceremony at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, followed by a Friday-night jazz walk at downtown restaurants. The main event is a performance by a renowned jazz band on Saturday evening at the F.M. Kirby Center. Additional events include a "Jazz & Java" coffee hour, an afternoon performance at the Circle Centre for the Arts, and a Sunday jazz brunch. The festival is in its second year and is inspired by the 1951 "Dixieland of Jazz" concert in Downtown Wilkes-Barre where eight bands played at two hotels. That 1951 extravaganza is noted as the country's first jazz festival in the Library of Congress. For more information, visit the Wilkes-Barre Cavalcade of Jazz on Facebook and Instagram. McGinley is a customer success manager for impact.com, a global partnership technology company connecting the world's largest brands with influencers, affiliates and content marketing opportunities. “After touring the Westmoreland Club, it was abundantly clear we needed to host our wedding here. There's a certain charm and character that makes the Club a perfect canvas for moody pictures, cordial conversations and enduring memories. In addition to the atmosphere, the staff welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like we’d been members for years. We felt their genuine excitement for us, and everyone was ready to accommodate us and our guest’s needs. While our special day was quite a whirlwind from beginning to end, we could talk for days regarding the details, interactions and emotions we experienced. Some of our favorite memories include our first look out front, tearing up the dance floor, little moments to ourselves and saying “I do”! As for some personal favorites, Mary still reminisces about the 40” disco ball and Hunter spawns goosebumps looking at wedding photos on the main staircase. We wouldn’t change a single detail. We’d like to thank the staff, our vendors, our friends and our families for helping execute our vision. We wouldn’t have such wonderful memories without each one of you. Cheers!” - Hunter & Mary McGrane
