Readers Choose Pet Valu St. Thomas as Paws-Down Favourite Brandon and Karlee Taylor, owners of Pet Valu St. Thomas, are thrilled to be named Favourite Pet Store in this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards. “As one of the few remaining locally owned pet stores in town, we’re truly honoured to receive this recognition,” said Karlee. “It means so much to know that the community sees the value in supporting local.” The Taylors took ownership of the store in 2023, but Pet Valu has been a trusted name in the community since 1990. Brandon, who started working with Pet Valu at age 16, now manages the day-to-day operations in-store, often with their certified therapy dog, Kaiser, by his side. Karlee works behind the scenes, managing finances, marketing, and events. What sets their store apart? According to Brandon, it’s all about the people. “Our team and our customers help set our store apart. Those who come through our doors aren’t only customers they’re our friends, family, and neighbours.”
Voted #1 by the True Experts Pet Parents Like You! Thanks for naming Pet Valu your favourite pet store in St. Thomas! We’re proud to offer trusted products, expert advice, and care that pets (and their people) love. Come see why tails wag and whiskers twitch with excitement.
The team at Pet Valu St. Thomas is made up of passionate staff who bring “a wealth of knowledge, kindness, and energy to every interaction,” Karlee added. “We’re lucky to have such a dedicated group who are willing to go the extra mile.” Popular services include the self-serve dog wash, perfect after a muddy park visit or beach day, and the store’s convenient carryout and free local delivery service, including scheduled deliveries to Port Stanley and Dutton. “People are often surprised to learn about our free delivery,” said Brandon. Pet Valu St. Thomas proudly supports Canadian and locally made products, and they go beyond retail by giving back to the community. “From the start, we wanted to be more than just a place to shop,” said Karlee. “We support many community initiatives such as the St. Thomas Police and OPP K9 units, the Phoenix Canine Initiative, the Caring Cupboard, various pet rescues, youth sports, and Animal Aide.” Kaiser, their Weimaraner, has become a local favourite. In addition to visiting long-term care homes, he has achieved top prize classification in a Natural Ability test through NAVHDA. As for their proudest accomplishments, Karlee said, “Hitting our two-year milestone as owners was huge, but we’re also proud to have helped so many animals find their forever homes.” The Taylors are grateful for the community’s support. “We’d like to send a huge thank you to all our customers,” said Brandon. “We are so lucky to be part of this community.”
