St. Thomas Author Shares a Powerful Message in ‘Your Words Matter’ For St. Thomas author Victoria Owaseye-Ajayi, words are more than just conversation; they’re tools that can heal, build, or quietly tear someone down. In her debut book, Your Words Matter: Let Your Words Build and Heal , Victoria explores the quiet power of language and how it shapes our lives. “I moved into St. Thomas a few years ago with my amazing husband and our two young children,” she recalls. “I’ve come to really appreciate the peace and sense of community this city offers.” Though her background includes work in public service, Victoria’s passion lies in encouraging others. “More than anything, I consider myself someone who is passionate about the power of words to bring hope and healing.” Your Words Matter is the result of years of reflection, service within her church, and personal growth. “It grew out of a divinely inspired journey of recognizing just how much the words we hear — and speak — can shape our lives,” she explains. “Writing this book was a way to reflect on that truth and to invite others to become more intentional with the way they speak life into those around them.” The journey to authorship wasn’t an obvious one. “Writing wasn’t something I ever felt confident about,” she admits. “In university, it was a real struggle. I still remember receiving another low mark on a paper, sitting on my bed in tears, quietly deciding writing was not for me.” But in that moment of frustration, something shifted. “I sensed a gentle yet firm prompting to write. That small act led to unexpected encouragement, and slowly, I began to write in private journals filled with reflections, thoughts, and prayers.” Through motherhood and ministry, she began to see just how deeply words affect people, sometimes shaping self-worth and relationships for decades. “What I’m most passionate about is helping people become more aware of the unseen impact of their words. I’ve been both the one wounded by words and the one healed by them.” One chapter, she says, resonates with readers and focuses on how parents and authority figures speak to children. “Even something as simple as comparing one

child to another can leave lasting scars. A kind word spoken at the right time can change someone’s life trajectory.” Available now on Amazon in paperback and Kindle formats, Your Words Matter is a heartfelt invitation to speak with purpose. Victoria adds, “Another book is already in the works, and I look forward to continuing this journey of encouragement and healing.”
