Champions of the Earth: Celebrating 25 Years of Clean, Conscious Living Simply Pure Water has been making waves in St. Thomas for a quar- ter of a century and their commitment to sustain- ability has earned them the Champions of the Earth Award at the re- cent Impact Awards.

personal care products. “It started with five or six products and has grown substantially,” Jame reveals. “What I love is that our supplier, Pure, takes the 20-litre containers back, sterilizes and reuses them. It’s a full-circle, closed-loop system.” For customers with sensitive skin or conditions like psoriasis, the Refillery offers a game-changing solution. “This is an excellent option because there’s nothing in there affecting or aggravating their condition,” Jame noted. The Patriquins are also passionate about clean drinking water. “I like the safety and security of knowing what I’m drinking is pure and clean,” says Jame. “City water meets minimum standards, but you never know what it picks up along the way through old pipes.” Simply Pure Water offers both purified and mineral spring water, with alkaline water soon to be available for purchase. “We’re always trying to keep up with what people are looking for, while staying true to our values,” Jame emphasizes. Over 25 years, the company has prevented an estimated 42 million single-use plastic bottles from entering landfills — a number that continues to climb thanks to the Refillery. “It’s probably even higher now,” Jame adds. “We’ve only used one container of each refillable product in our own home over four years.” Their “Love Local” retail space is another testament to their community-minded ethos. “I love supporting other local businesses,” Jame says. “We started during the pandemic when many had nowhere else to sell.” Simply Pure Water’s story is one of innovation, heart, and a deep respect for the planet — and it’s just getting started.

What began as a retirement project for Chris Patriquin’s aunt and uncle has blossomed into a thriving, locally owned business led by Chris and his wife, Jame Patriquin. “I joined the company within the first year to help with sales and business development,” Chris explained. “When it was time for them to retire, we bought them out.” Jame joined the business full-time in 2019, taking charge of the storefront while Chris oversaw the commercial and delivery divisions. Together, they’ve transformed Simply Pure Water into a hub for hydration and environmental responsibility. In the midst of the pandemic, so customers could Refill Not Landfill, Jame and Chris introduced the Refillery, a zero-waste station offering chemical-free, plant-based cleaning and
