Fixed Right Auto, Driven by Trust For nearly three decades, Fixed Right Automotive has been a trusted name in vehicle maintenance for St. Thomas drivers. This year, the locally owned business was recognized by readers as St. Thomas’ Favourite Oil Change in the annual Readers’ Choice Awards—an honour that owner Warren Silverthorn says is both humbling and affirming. “I’m truly honoured that we were voted the best oil change location in the area,” says Warren. “This recognition means a lot to us, it’s a powerful reminder that putting the customer first truly makes a difference.” Warren’s passion for mechanics started early. “From a young age, I had a passion for fixing things,” he explains. “What began as tinkering around the house soon grew into something bigger, repairing my siblings’ vehicles. There was always a deep satisfaction in being able to figure out the problem and make things work again.” After gaining experience at other shops, some of which eventually closed, Warren knew he wanted to take a different path. “With the knowledge and experience I had gained, I believed I could build something better. So, I decided to open my own shop, driven by a desire to help people with their automotive needs and a belief that customer service should always come first.” That philosophy has guided Fixed Right Automotive since day one. What began as a five-bay shop with one employee has grown into a seven-bay facility with a team of seven. The business has also expanded its services to meet the evolving needs of customers. Now in its 29th year, the milestone of three decades in business is on the horizon. “Reaching 30 years in business feels surreal. In
the early days, I focused on making it through one year at a time. Now, here we are, approaching three decades,” says Warren. “I couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of my wife and partner, our dedicated staff, and our loyal customers.” Fixed Right is more than just a repair shop; it’s an active part of the St. Thomas community. The business supports local charities, sponsors youth sports, and Warren himself sits on the Board of the Elgin Business Resource Centre. They also offer mentorship through apprenticeships and co-op placements, helping to train the next generation of technicians. When it comes to oil changes, Warren says it’s the little things that make the most significant difference. “At our shop, an oil change includes more than just fresh oil and a new filter. We lubricate door latches and hinges, check belts, fluids, tires, lights, and more. It’s about being proactive and catching small issues before they become big problems.” “It’s the community that helped build this business,” he adds. “And we’re proud to continue serving it every day.”
