Hometown St.Thomas June 2025

Greetings from St. Thomas by Steve Peters

The St. Thomas Street Railway system was established in 1879. It was originally a Tram Car pulled by a horse.

In 1898, the line was electrified, and it ran on various streets through the City, as well as a connection to Pinafore Park. The Street Railway was operated until 1926 when it was shut down and replaced by buses. Remains of the railway are still buried throughout the City, even as I write this, rail ties are being unearthed on Forest Ave!
