Kevin S. Cohen Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually in memory of the 1991 graduate who worked at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. He is remembered as a fine young man who loved his music. Lou Amaczi Scholarship Sponsored by Edison Moose 1978 : Lou Amaczi, a beloved Edison Moose Member served as President and on the Board of Officers for many years. An electrician by trade, always wanted to have students recognized for their hard work in these types of trades. He always said, sometimes the kids that are putting 100% of the work just cannot seem to catch a break. This scholaship honors his hope for hardworking an passionate students to be able to pursue their dreams of a career in the trades. Neha Shende Memorial Award is in memory of a 2006 graduate who tragically died in an automobile accident in December 2006. This award is presented to the student who exemplifies the qualities of academic excellence in the areas of science and world languages. Nicholas Cennamo Memorial Scholarship established to honor a 2003 graduate, by his friends and family. This award is given in his memory to a well-rounded individual who loves soccer. Peter J. Barnes Jr. Award is given to a young man who has demonstrated honor, loyalty and integrity, and is interested in pursuing a career in public service or law enforcement. Reyla Glick Memorial Award is given in memory of the former Theater/Drama instructor at JP Stevens. This is awarded to a student who has been devoted to the theater program at JP Stevens. Robert Turanicza Memorial Award Robert was a 1985 graduate of JP Stevens and worked as a custodian at both JPS and Woodbrook schools. He was also a Woodbrook graduate and he loved working with young children. Tragically, he was struck and killed in a motor vehicle accident one night on his way home from work. This award is given in his memory. Robin Cone Memorial Scholarship was established to commemorate the life of Robin Cone who lost her battle with cancer in November 2009. Robin was a 1990 graduate of JP Stevens who returned to us in 2007 to be a school counselor. She was the type of person no one will ever forget, as she had that indomitable spirit that pushed us all to succeed in life one way or another. Sree Kriti Memorial is given in memory to honor her career in liberal arts. She was a diligent and talented law student, a voracious reader, and her passion for the written word translated into her exceptional abilities as a writer. Sree was one of the warmest, most caring people you would ever meet. Stephen G. Achaves Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually in memory of a former counselor and Supervisor of Guidance in the Edison schools. This award is given to a student who is involved in the school, community and in becoming a teacher. “Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you.” The Steven B. Trooskin Memorial Scholarship is given in his memory to someone who exemplifies this trait with a positive attitude and perseveres in the face of adversity. Tony Simonelli Memorial Scholarship was established to honor a man committed to JP Stevens athletics, unlike anyone else. He always had a kind word and treated people with respect. Through this display of kindness, Tony made a better person out of those around him. The Virginia Fauquier Memorial Scholarship – This Scholarship honors the legacy of Virginia “Ginny” Fauquier, an esteemed member of the JPS School community since its inception in 1964. Ginny, the school’s first secretary, dedicated over 25 years to JP Stevens, fostering lasting connections and contributing to its growth. Beyond her administrative role, Ginny’s commitment to education and support for students exemplify the spirit of this scholarship. Established by her family, this scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding achievement, echoing Ginny’s belief in celebrating success and nurturing future leaders. William Corio Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is given in memory of a former teacher who was involved in the Theater program at JPS. It is awarded to an outstanding senior involved in drama.
