TOWN OF BURGAW PARKS AND RECREATION Splash Pad Master Plan
SECTION VII: ACTION PLAN FOR IMPLEMENTATION In order to implement development of the Hankins Park Splash Pad, the following actions need to be taken: 1. Adopt the Plan The plan needs to be adopted by the Town of Burgaw Board of Commissioners so that the Town can move forward towards goals set forth in the plan and seek additional funding. The plan will be presented to the Board of Commissioners at the May 2025 meeting for review and approval. The plan will also be presented to The Parks Foundation of Burgaw and Parks and Recreation Advisory Board at their May 2025 meetings for support 2. Quote Project Costs The Town will obtain quotes for construction and installation of the splash pad and its amenities. 3. Host Public Meetings The Town plans to host community meetings regarding the splash pad in September of 2025 to provide details to the public, answer questions, and garner support. 4. Apply for Funding The Parks Foundation of Burgaw has ongoing fundraising efforts specifically for a splash pad project. Their intent is to donate funds raised in the amount of half of the cost of the project to the Town of Burgaw. The Town will need to apply for a PARTF grant in May 2026 to fund the remaining half of the project 5. Apply for Permits The Town will apply for necessary permits including: • Building Permit with the Town of Burgaw • Public Swimming Pool Operation Permit with Pender County Health Department 6. Complete Project The Town of Burgaw will pursue bids and complete construction of the project.
