TOWN OF BURGAW PARKS AND RECREATION Splash Pad Master Plan

Respondents were asked about their current use of town parks and recreation offerings. Three hundred and eighty-three (383) participants indicated that they use recreational facilities and parks in Burgaw. Forty-eight (48) indicated they do use parks in Burgaw and fifty-one (51) participants skipped the questions altogether. Participants were then asked which facilities and parks their families had visited in the past fiscal year. Four hundred and thirty-one (431) participants indicated that they have visited at least one parks and recreation facility. Fifty-one (51) participants chose to skip this question. The most popular current parks being used included the Osgood Canal Greenway & Urban Trail (65.20%), Rotary Park/Basketball/Volleyball Facility (51.74%), and W. Ross Harrell Memorial Park/Tennis Courts (50.81%). The least used or visited parks included Wilmington Street Park (8.35%) and Wright Street Pocket Park (6.26%). Respondents did note that they did not use some parks and offerings because they were not aware of them. This reason was frequently given for the parks with unspecified functions: Ashe Street Park, Johnson Park, Dees Park, and Pecan Park. Respondents were also asked if their family had used any County or privately owned recreational facilities in Burgaw during the most recent fiscal year. Two hundred and thirty-six (236) participants indicated that they had used a County or private facility and one hundred and ninety-five (195) indicated that they had not used this type of facility. Examples of these facilities included county-owned parks, martial arts centers, private gyms, and senior centers.
