A BRITISH SUCCESS STORY
It all started when Harvey moved to Surrey... Harvey Bowden moved from the notoriously soft water area of Cornwall to the hard water area of Surrey. His wife Ann noticed limescale around the home that came at an unwanted cost. She purchased a water softener, but Harvey, who was a plumber at the time, didn't install it. The oversized water softener sat in the shed for months. the 70’s... Harvey later installed it and was amazed with the results. He even started selling water softeners himself, but he spent most of his time convincing customers that it was ok to cut a hole in their kitchen worktop so the tall water softener could stick through it. The UK market wasn’t suited to the large products, something smaller that would fit under the kitchen sink was needed. 1988... Harvey worked with an American company to bring a compact under the sink water softener to the UK market. The successful product allowed the business to move to its own factory in Old Woking, Surrey where it is still based today. Harvey designed an improved and optimised version specifically for British Plumbing and the business kept growing. 2006... Now with an ever growing team, the factory is producing more water softeners year on year. The product you see today has been tested and adapted to be at the forefront of innovation. We have a dedicated team of water softener experts who know the product inside out. 2018... Harvey Water Softeners merged with Culligan, meaning we are now part of the world’s largest water treatment business. Rainwater is ‘soft’, almost pure H 2 O. But when it flows underground through limestone and chalk it picks up minerals such as calcium and magnesium, which make the water ‘hard’. This hard water enters your home through your water mains, bringing with it the effects of scale and scum.

Your water softener will be fitted by one of our expert installers. In most cases it takes half a day, but if it takes longer; rest assured you will not be charged extra.

WHY IS SALT IMPORTANT? Your Harvey Water Softener needs block salt to function, which needs to be replenished regularly so you have an uninterrupted softened water supply. The HarveyArc Water Softener uses Mini-Curve block salt, which is easier to store and cleaner to use than loose salt. All our salt adheres to the BS EN 973 standard for water softening salt and we can guarantee grade A purity.
