King's Business - 1950-12

in the assisting of the smaller backwards peoples of the earth in their peaceful pursuits o f happiness; yet, the fact remains after five years since the United Nations was born in San Francisco, the world is spending more money than ever before in all history in war preparation, and never before in a time of “peace” have so many young men and women been drafted and taught the arts of war fare! Moreover, the United Nations’ author of the leaflet to which I have referred, is completely wrong when he states that the charter of the United Nations is “world law, expressing the mandate of the people of the world that THERE SHALL BE PEACE.” Know they not that half the people of the earth have either not accepted that mandate or, having accepted it in principle, are in re bellion against it? Verily, the Word of God as to the natural depravity of man stands: “ Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: and the way of peace have they not known: [the reason] there is no fear of God before their eyes” (Rom. 3:15-18). The Marshalling of The Nations for the Battle In a previous article I dealt with Ezekiel’s (Chap. 38 and 39) great prophecy depicting the great Russian Bear ( “ Gog” ) prowling forth from his northern lair down to his doom on the hills of Palestine. Newspapers, maga zines, and radios have their space largely occupied with the story of the mad, feverish armament race of the na tions. The whole world stands on tip-toe for the sound of the first bomb. Men despair of any peaceful settlement. All hope seems to be born only of wishful thinking. When wild beasts go on a rampage, wishful thinking must give way to bullets and bombs! The overthrow of Gog can only be accomplished by a great military alliance of the non-Communistic nations. Such an alliance would certainly be within the revelation of the prophetic Word. Only such an alliance therein ap pears. It is the alliance of the famous “ ten kings” of Daniel and the Apocalypse of John. (See Dan. 2:40-45; 7:23-26.) It is evident that these “ ten kings” are to emerge from the territory of “ the fourth kingdom,” or “And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast . . . For God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God can be fulfilled” (Rev. 17:12, 13, 17). Who can “ the beast” be to whom these “ ten kings” (ten kingdoms) give all their great power as the head of this alliance? It can be none other than the Antichrist. The proposed organization o f “ The United States of Europe” fits into the picture perfectly. The threat of the Communistic Rahu in the north and east is even now making the nations of Western Europe very much of “ one mind.” And, with the overthrow of Gog, there will be but one result—the Antichrist will reach the destiny that is his in the prophetic picture. Winston Churchill recently made a trip to Denmark, and before massed thousands in Copenhagen, he delivered a memorable speech, in the course o f which he said: “ The creation of an authoritative, all-powerful world order is the ultimate end towards which we must strive. Unless some effective world super-government can be set up and brought quickly into action, the prospects for peace and human progress are dark and doubtful.” “ The creation of an authoritative, aM-powerful, world- D E C E M B E R , 19 50 the ancient Roman Empire. order!” An effective world super-government to he set up and brought quickly into action,” —either this, or a complete relapse into the “ dark ages” ! Can any Bible reader ponder that statement without instantly recalling the prophecy of the great and the last super-government this world will ever see this side the return of our Lord? Consider it: “ And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy . . . and all the world wondered after the beast . . . saying, who is like unto the beast? Who can make war with him? . . . and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations” (Rev. 13: 1 ,3 ,7 ). And there, Friend Churchill, is your “ super government” ! As a believer in the Scriptures, how can you look forward to it for “peace and human progress” ? Remember, our Lord said, “ The scripture cannot be broken” ! (John 10:35). Hitler goes, Stalin comes! Stalin goes, “ the Beast” will come! Verily, verily, the nations today are marshalling not for peace, but for Armageddon! When the Antichrist at the head of the “ ten kings” shall have conquered the great Communistic Federation out of the east and out of the north (cf. Dan. 11:44, 45) and shall come to the zenith of his power, he will follow in the wake of all his predecessors, and deify himself (2 Thess. 2 :3 ,4 ). And like unto his great type, Nebuchadnezzar, he will set up an image of himself for worship. Is it not written, he will cause that “ they should make an “ image of the beast . . . and cause that as many as would not worship the beast should be killed” (Rev. 13:15)? When the Antichrist shall attain this “power” over the “ nations,” then the whole world will become indeed “ United Nations,” united in one great super-government. While the flag of every nation will float above the world- (Continued on Page 30) Page Fifteen
