Why did you become an SRO? I became an SRO because I wanted to make a positive impact on student’s lives while ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment. I believe in building relationships with young people, serving as a mentor, and being someone they can trust. My goal is not just law enforcement but also guidance, education, and prevention-helping students make good choices and feel safe at school. What is your favorite thing about the school that you SRO for? My favorite thing about Springfield High School is the strong sense of community. I love getting to know the students, being a positive influence in their lives, and seeing them grow. It’s rewarding to be part of a team that genuinely cares about the safety and success of every student. What is the coolest part of being an SRO? The coolest part of being an SRO is the opportunity to build real relationships with students and make a lasting

impact on their lives. Unlike traditional law enforcement roles, you get to be a mentor, role model, and a trusted resource for young people. Another great part is the variet y- every day is different. One day, you might be giving safety presentations: the next, you’re coaching a student through a tough situation. Plus, you get to be part of the school’s culture, attending events, supporting sports teams, and really becoming part of the community. What is one piece of advice you would give to your students to help them succeed? Always treat others with respect and kindness, and stay true to your values , even when it’s difficult. Building strong relationships, being kind, and staying grounded in your principles can help you navigate challenging situations whether they’re social, academic, or personal.
