Workforce pipeline. CDIC, in collaboration with Business Development, reaches students and future potential employees on five University campuses, with a total reach of >200,000 students, and offers internships to 10-12 students with food science, engineering, ag business backgrounds. 2026 Direction: • Modify internship program to prioritize placement with industry • Further extend reach through pilot initiatives with 3 community colleges in the San Joaquin Valley. Academic capacity/ Pacific Coast Coalition and Grants: CDIC serves as advisor for PCC grants, and assists processors interested in applying for funding. CDIC support faculty in the development of dairy- centric courses and curriculum, and supports long-term initiatives to upgrade/expand pilot plant and training facilities. 2026 Direction: • Continue to support the PCC and seek diversified external funding sources. • Collaborate with Producers Relations to support farmer-led, vertical integration projects. • Work with universities to attract sustainable external funding for pilot plant, creamery upgrades and to strengthen R&D, training capacity.
