Tharp & Young “On Ice Cream” November 12-14 at Chapman University Chapman University hosted the Tharp & Young Ice Cream technical short course in November. This event draws an average of 35-40 participants, including suppliers, entrepreneurs, equipment manufacturers, R&D and operations personnel.
Tentative calendar for 2026 CDIC Events The CDIC course calendar for 2026 has been developed and promotion is starting. The calendar features the annual Innovation Conference at Shell Beach plus 13 short courses (1 which is entirely new for 2026). CDIC worked with the Program Committee on the Shell Beach Innovation conference, invited speakers and setting the stage for the event, slated February 24-26, 2026.
Attracting New Workforce
2025 Internships & Student Placement Over the course of 2025, CDIC placed 11 interns with processors, academic institutions, or with CMAB and CDIC directly. These projects provided real, practical and hands-in experience to emphasize career opportunities in dairy.
Jake York, CalPoly San Luis Obispo, Ag. Business. Worked at Cal Poly DPTC in the pilot plant to streamline ingredient sourcing, support DPTC staff on trials with external clients, and created a database of supplier information to support future work.
