OGSM (Objectives – Goals – Strategies – Measures) The CMAB has developed a new strategic framework called the OGSM (Objectives – Goals – Strategies – Measures). Credit goes to Adrienne Daniels who brought this to us. Adrienne worked with first Glenn and I and then the broader team to develop the draft you’ll see below.
What is it? o The OGSM framework is a strategic planning tool that outlines an organization's objectives, goals, strategies, and measures to translate high- level vision into actionable plans. o Objective defines a long-term, breakthrough vision (>3 years, though can be aspirational/without timeline). o Goals are the specific, measurable targets that help achieve that objective and are 3Y. o Strategies are the chosen approaches to meet the Objective and are 3Y. o Measures are the 1Y key performance indicators (KPIs) that let you know you

are progressing towards your goals appropriately. o Actions codify major work against the strategies.
Why did we do it? o The CMAB developed this framework with the intention of focusing effort against the most important strategies that have the most potential to increase the value of California dairy farmers’ milk. o The strategic framework also allows for effective communication throughout the organization to ensure that all elements of the organization are working towards the same goals.
