nurturing and supportive House culture maturing under the inspired leadership of Head of House Christian Higgins and his team. I feel very proud of what the boys have been able to achieve this year, and am particularly pleased with the continued and collective growth in character and resilience among our young men. First, I would like to acknowledge the hard work and leadership of our Head of House, Christian Higgins. Christian has worked hard this year to build a House culture of trust and support, emphasising and exemplifying a model of masculinity based on collegiality and mutual respect. It has not always been an easy or smooth ride, but Christian has demonstrated great resilience and perseverance, and grown in maturity and confidence as the year has progressed. This culminated in a simply outstanding speech to the boys and their parents at the end
of year Julius prize-giving, where Christian talked with courage and honesty about his personal journey this year. Well done Christian on an outstanding year’s work, and we wish you all the best for 2023 and beyond. Christian was well-supported this year by Deputy Heads of House Thimeth Wijesinghe and Rheon Salt. Thimeth combined an extraordinary level of energy and drive with a wide range of skills and interests to lead Julius House in several areas. He was particularly to the fore in the House Play and debating, and led us with passion and distinction. Rheon was also a significant figure in the development of the House spirit, and a wonderful counterpart to Christian and Thimeth. Rheon is the “team man”, showing empathy and leadership in the building of House spirit and a sense of togetherness and camaraderie.
