INTERHOUSE EVENTS Athletics On Athletics Sports Day at the end of February, the boys competed in several championship events. This day was unlike any other Athletics Day, with no spectators or non- championship events. Leading into the Friday, the house was nicely positioned to have many boys feature in a wide variety of finals. Unfortunately, Covid-19 struck and our entire Year 13 cohort had to isolate, thus these boys were not able to participate. Not to be left out, it was pleasing to see the messages of support and encouragement the Year 13 boys were sending to other members of the House. Several boys placed very well in their individual finals: Hugo Trolove was 2nd in U14 javelin, Oliver Simpson was 3rd in the U14 3000m, and Jake Abbiss managed to place 2nd in the senior pole vault before having to withdraw and isolate.

House Music The next event on the calendar was the annual Parents’ Association House Music Festival. This event took place in the Christchurch Town Hall on Thursday 30 June 2022. The House was in chorus as the boys sang their rendition of Happy Together by The Turtles. They did their best to impress the judge. A big thanks to our backing band who did a wonderful job learning the many parts for this song. Well done Oliver Biggs, George Helmore, Jake Abbiss, Rudi Beavan, Charlie Stanley, Geordie Pavey and James Hadden. A special mention must also be made of Hugo Helmore, who stepped up to be our conductor with less than 12 hours' notice and led the House magnificently. Finally, a big thank you must go to the Year 13 students and, in particular, Rudi, Jake and Charlie, who organised and ran the House singing beautifully.

REACTION House Plays Festival Badjelly the Witch – a true childhood classic – was School House’s entry in the Reaction 2022 House Plays Festival. The play follows Tom and Rose as they go in search of their missing cow, Lucy. It takes them on a terrifying adventure where they become lost in the great black forest. There they meet Binklebonk the Tree Goblin, Mudwiggle the worm, Silly Sausage the grasshopper and Dinglemouse. When they are captured by Badjelly, it is Dinglemouse who saves them by escaping and fetching his friend, Jim the Giant Eagle. The School House cast did a tremendous job bringing this beloved story to life and taking the audience along for a laugh-a-minute ride. At the conclusion of the evening, several cast members were acknowledged with awards Magic Moment Award for the amazing trees Gabriel Beavan, Oliver Simpson, Toby Adams, Charlie Peacock, Nick McQuilkin
