Both teams performed valiantly, and our inspiring leavers should be exceedingly proud of their accomplishments. What an absolute privilege to have worked with them. JUNIOR COMPETITION For the first time in years, we were able to front two keen junior teams for the Court Theatre Junior Competition. Team A featured Year 10 students Angus Vincent, Charlie Doutch, David Wayne and newcomers Michael Rankin and Bill Cross. Team B had Year 10 students Alex Johnston, Tinura Gajamange and Benson Geng-Wang, alongside Year 9 students Charlie Wood and Charlie de Costobadie, taking the stage. Both teams found themselves heading to finals at the
Court Theatre – some still dripping from their earlier water polo games – ready to take on two Riccarton High School teams, Christchurch Girls’ High School, and Christchurch South. Team A opened with a fantastic Shared Story about an alien-infested spooky forest, then became a bunch of businessmen kayaking in New Choice, and finished with Typewriter, where the lost children met the fabled Party Animal. Team B tackled a difficult Poem about firefighter Tom, followed by an entertaining Spoon River full of man-eating pigs, and ended with a UFO-themed New Choice. After an incredibly hard battle against five talented teams, Christchurch South maintained its lead from the beginning and left all other teams in the dust.
With its exceptional passion and perseverance, I can’t wait to see how this group progresses next year.
Our theatresports legacy is flourishing, thanks to the
