target shooting as a club and a full- time winter sport option. In 2022, 13 boys took shooting as a full-time winter sport. All boys competed in secondary school (SS), club, and NZCTA competitions. This year, the shooting team completed all six rounds of the Canterbury SS shooting circuit, travelled to Dunedin for the Otago Boys’ High School sports exchange, travelled to Hamilton for the North Island SS Championships, and competed in the South Island SS, and the New Zealand SS Championships.

In the Canterbury SS competition, team members regularly achieved top-three places and personals bests and proved to be competitive in the points score teams competition. Henry Lassen won the Canterbury SS skeet season competition. On 14 June 2022, the College team of Digby Sheild, Maurice Gillard, Kieran Christey, Will Pearson and Sam Nicholl travelled to Dunedin to shoot against OBHS. The weather conditions were atrocious and challenging for both teams, with College eventually winning the close competition with a team score of 333 to OBHS’s 314.
