Our A team comprised Kevin Thiele, Jed Gimblett, Reuben Oh and Harry Vincent. It was fair to say it was a tumultuous season for these boys. Plagued with illness, injury and inconsistency with the basics, the boys claimed four wins during pool play but suffered five losses. This left them in 5th place before heading into the play-offs, ultimately missing out on the semi-finals. Our Senior Black team comprised Oscar Clay, Sean Jang, Edward Nye, Henry Acton-Adams and Andrew Welsh, who worked steadily and consistently throughout the season. They took out a remarkable seven wins in the pool play, losing just twice. Their toughest rivals, the Cashmere A side, defaulted a crucial game late in the season, providing the opportunity to play in the final against St Andrew’s College. The College side won quite convincingly thanks to Oscar Clay’s 2–1 victory and Henry Acton-Adams 2–0 victory. Our College White side comprised Ethan Crilly, Callum Kingsbury, Geordie Pavey, Gibson Burt and Henry Ansell. All have fitness and talent. These boys have been working together for at least two years now and the experience is showing. What an achievement to remain undefeated for the whole season. I hope we can find some

more challenging opponents for you next year in the Open A and B grade. At the end of this year, College will lose some very dedicated Year 13 players who have made a significant commitment to squash over the past five years. Kevin Thiele, Harry Vincent and Jed Gimblett are relaxed yet reliable players. I hope you manage to find time for a hit in- between your studies next year. Well done to our juniors for either trying squash for the first time this year or returning for a second season. I look forward to seeing you develop your skills on court again next year. Finally, a special mention to Erin Rutherford and Graeme Swanson for taking the reins and managing the boys during Term 3 while I was on leave. Prize for Junior Champion James Bandasak Prize for Most Promising Player Hugo Buchan Prize for Open Champion Oscar Clay

A & B Grade Open Players: Henry Acton-Adams, Oscar Clay, Jed Gimblett, Sean Jang, Edward Nye, Reuben Oh, Kevin Thiele, Harry Vincent, Andrew Welsh Juniors: Henry Ansell, James Bandasak, Alex Bedggood, Ollie Bloy, Hugo Buchan, Gibson Burt, Josh Burton-Lyall, Ethan Crilly, Lewis Devine-Smith, Jacob Jacques, Callum Kingsbury, Geordie Pavey, Freddy Scott, Benedykt Staples, Tim Tolerton The high number of juniors who signed up for squash this year was testament to our high- energy, fast game. With just nine Canterbury school teams signed up for Wednesday matches, our boys dominated half the draw this year with five teams entered. Unfortunately, this meant there was a limited variety of competitors and our College boys were often pitted against one another. This can be great fun for those who want to challenge their classmate to a game, but – on the flip side – it is also frustrating to face the same opponent over and over again.
