against an evenly matched opponent in the 3rd/4th play-offs. Lucca finished the tournament in 4th place. The winner of this year’s men’s singles competition was Liam Barrett. Despite playing against the strongest players across Canterbury, Liam managed to control his opponents and impose himself on all his matches. Liam comfortably won 4–1, 4–0 in the quarter-finals and, in similar fashion, won 6–0, 6–3 in the semi-finals to play top-seeded player, Duncan Mccall, in the final. In the highly anticipated match-up, Liam put together a strong all- round performance to further assert himself as one of the tournament favourites. Liam was leading 6–3 before his opponent retired mid- game with a wrist injury. In late February, the College A team played at the South Island Tennis Championships.
