with the whole school invited to activities at intervals and lunchtimes. The top attraction was the Bake Sale and Sausage Sizzle; the Leadership Committee combined with the Service Committee for this event. This was a fundraiser for BounceBack4Syria, which provides sports equipment for young Syrian children to help them build resilience. Challenging leadership games involving teamwork were held on the Quad on Monday lunchtime; Old Boys Louis Gunn and Zach Gallagher came in to talk informally about leadership and chatted about how each student could develop his own leadership style and confidence. The Year 12 Emerging Leaders Conference also took place this week, with more than 600 young leaders from around the Canterbury region. This year we added a few extra features to the already great event; the Kapa haka opened for a strong mihi whakatau and there was a student voice panel on Ma¯ori leadership, with a student-led MC. We were honoured by the presence of great speakers like Abbas Nazari and Emily Seebohm as well as all the students who attended different leadership workshops.

Inspired mini-conference, where 200 students from different primary and intermediate schools were invited to College for a day of speakers and workshops. The theme for the day was about inspiring young leaders to work collaboratively to make a difference, highlighting the importance of working together for the greater good, making connections and leading by example while encouraging others. While it is hugely overstated, it is certainly true that the difficulties we faced at the beginning of the year allowed us to become a more cohesive unit and, as a result, we managed to produce some incredible music.

At the Big Sing competition in Christchurch, we performed Benedictus by Mozart with a unique harpsichord and string

accompaniment which earnt us the award for Best Performance of a Classical Work. Additionally, we sang the College waiata Te Whakapono Ki Te Atua , which was written for the choir by the Puanaki wha¯nau. Although not being named in the
