F. The Next Steps – Long-Term Joint Action
“During difficult times like the Iron Swords War, the Yeladenu Operation by Sheatufim and Zionism 2000 demonstrates the power and true meaning of partnership. Through cooperation and dedication, you succeed in connecting different sectors and creating a response that supports the entire society’s welfare. We at the Israel Trauma Coalition commend your commitment and the efforts you invest; we are your partners on the long road to healing and rehabilitation.”
Sheatufim and Zionism 2000, the parties behind the Yeladenu Operation, are social infrastructure organizations which in normal times act to promote change with respect to complex social problems. The organizations operate based on the “Collective Impact” model, according to which, in order to bring about systemic improvements in complex social problems, there is a need for cooperation between the public sector, the business sector and the social sector. Since September 2024, we are acting to advance a joint long-term initiative to promote the resilience of children and youth in the Western Negev, based on the professional infrastructure, experience, and know-how we have accumulated. The bold partnership forged within the Operation between government ministries, local authorities, businesses, civil society non-profits and private philanthropy will serve as a foundation for an in-depth process in which we will study the topic of resilience and trauma among children and youth, set attainable objectives, and promote them together. At this stage, Yeladenu’s role will be to act as a backbone organization, which will assist joint, systemic, and coordinated activity by different parties in the field. What did we learn about the social field of resilience and trauma for children and youth on the front lines? • Multiple professional entities work to improve the situation: The Israel Trauma Coalition and its resilience centers in Southern Israel, the ICSPC and its resilience centers in Northern Israel, civil society non-profits and more. • Substantial professional and applied know-how was accumulated in the field of resilience and trauma, based, unfortunately, on trials and experiments in the Iron Swords War and previous wars. • The local authorities are aware of the numerous needs of children and youth – and the needs of parents and families – in the field of resilience. They promote the topic through the departments of education (formal, informal and educational psychological services), welfare, and resilience centers. • Strengthening the resilience of children and youth also depends on the resilience of the various education and therapy teams. It is necessary to invest in them so they can serve as a role model for children and continue to strengthen the resilience of children. • There are economic and budgetary resources, as well as programs, to strengthen the resilience of children and youth. Government ministries as well as business and philanthropic organizations are willing to come on board to promote this topic.
The Israel Trauma Coalition
“We at the ICSPC (Israel Community Stress Prevention Center) and our resilience centers had the privilege to cooperate with Sheatufim and Zionism 2000 at the Yeladenu Operation’s Shachar Center. This cooperation was reflected in a deep connection with our center’s administration, a connection of joint thinking, coordinating strategy and tactics, cooperation in planning the allocation of spaces in the center and mostly – cooperation in implementation, in individual therapy clinics for therapists to work with patients, spaces for activity with youth, parents and more… cooperation with a strong will to keep working together.”
