The Ninth Hole (looking Backward)
The scene of many wrecked score-cards and the Waterloo of records that were all but made. The tee is situated on a slight elevation overlooking the lake, and to play straight for the hole requires 140 yards of clean carry over the water. This can be reduced by edging off a bit to the left, but not too far, or else one’s ball will gracefully disappear into the choicest section of the overheated kitchen previously alluded to. A top or a slice means a watery grave, and many there be that enter therein.
