bull management
In mid-October, the bull calves are weaned, and go back on native range with salt and mineral. Their ration is distiller’s cubes and winter range, to gain two-pounds per day. Later, the bulls are put on a high roughage ration of ground prairie hay, modified distiller grain, and a little corn, to gain two pounds a day. As yearlings, the bulls graze native range and bottoms of cool-season grasses, supplemented only with salt and mineral. In mid-October, pre-sale, they begin a high roughage ration consisting of prairie hay, modified distiller’s grains, and a little corn.
