The metric unit of measurement is litres. There are 1000 millilitres in a litre.
Capacity of water can be measured in a measuring cylinder.

There are 10 intervals between 400 and 600 so each interval is worth 20. The amount of water in the cylinder is 420 ml. The capacity of a water bottle is 500 ml. How many litres of water can be held in 6 bottles of water? 6 × 500 = 3000 ml There are 1000 millilitres in a litre, so 6 bottles of water will hold 3 litres.
